Hello all, March is Women's History Month. During this month we should take time to show extra appreciation for the female-identified people in our lives and try to better acquaint ourselves with their history and the struggles they have faced. This is a great time to learn more about our friends and family and become more cultured at the same time!!
Hello all!! Again, I apologize for the late post on here. February 5th was Gay-Straight Alliance Club Day, or GSA Day for short. On this day, we celebrate the hard work of youth activists and club advisers that inspire those around them to support the queer rights movement. Thank you all for your hard work, and I hope you have a wonderful day!!
Hello all!! February is LGBTQ+ history month. Take time this month to remember all of those activists that came before us and fought to get the queer rights movement to where it is today. Have a wonderful month everyone!!
Hello all, I apologize for the very late updates. January 27th was the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this day we remember those know lost their lives during this sad time in human history. Gay men were a highly persecuted group that were sent to concentration camps and killed, along with lesbians; but at a lower rate than gay men. The men were marked with pink triangles and the women were marked with black triangles. These are now used as symbols in today's queer rights movement. Remember those killed during this time and keep them in your thoughts. RIP.
Sorry everyone, I'm still trying to catch up with other things, and this update slipped my mind!! November 20th was the Transgender Day of Remembrance. One this day we honor the lives of trans* folk we have lost due to hate crimes. Some may attend vigils where a list of the victims from the previous year are read allowed to remind us all that they are still in our thoughts. November 22nd was Survivors of Suicide Day. This day is dedicated to those who have attempted to take their lives in the past or have had serious thoughts of not wanting to live anymore and have braved their own minds to overcome these thoughts and continue to live on. Thank you for finding a reason to stay; or still trying to search for one. You're amazing <3
Hello all!! Today in Intersex Awareness Day, a day were we aim to educate others about the sex identity that is intersex. It is estimated that 10% of all Americans are intersex to some degree. Of course, many people are not aware of this; otherwise this would be a much more widely known fact. Today you should reach out and support your known intersex friends and encourage others to do the same. If you're curious as to if you're intersex, I suggest you look into intersex conditions more and talk to a doctor about it. I hope that members of all sexes have a great day!! :3
Hello all!! This week is Ally Week and it is one of the yearly events I love to celebrate the most, since our GSA Club is mostly comprised of straight and cisgender allies and our club would be no where without them. I would like to thank them for making our community a safer place for queer folk. And thank you to all allies around the world that help push pro-queer legislation and ideals into the forefront of our movement. To the queer folk, take some time to show your allies love and appreciation for all they have done. Stay strong loves <3
Hello all!! I'm sorry that I haven't been updating frequently, it's slipped my mind. We celebrate National Suicide Prevention Week and Day in September along with Bisexual Pride Day and Gay Men's HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. October is National LGBTQ History Month and National Bullying Prevention Month. Yesterday was National Coming Out Day, a day where many queer folk choose to come out together in the hopes of acceptance and understanding from those around them. I hope that all of you who came out received positive affirmations from those around you!! And I hope all allies were supportive and awesome about these outings!! Stay fabulous y'all <3
